Our planning team provides a full planning service advising on matters such as:

  • submission of planning applications and negotiations with planning officers;
  • planning conditions and Section 106 Agreements;
  • appeal and judicial review procedures;
  • enforcement action;
  • compulsory purchase;
  • conservation and tree preservation orders;
  • highways and public rights of way; and
  • environmental assessment.

The team has good contacts with local authorities, planning consultants and other experts in the built environment and offers pragmatic and commercial solutions to complex planning issues; providing regular bulletins on current planning and environmental issues to ensure that clients are kept fully up to date. Our clients include educational institutions, local authorities, statutory undertakers, land owners, financial institutions and developers.

We provide environmental support for corporate and property transactional work and advise on environmental regulation such as noise abatement controls and hazardous substances consent. Our particular expertise in the water and sewerage sector includes advising an industry regulator, three statutory undertakers and many large water users. We also advise business sectors on contaminated land liability and remediation, environmental liabilities, asbestos management, flood risk assessments, waste management and pollution.

Our planning and environmental specialists play a crucial role in many capital projects having particular expertise in energy projects, urban regeneration and education projects. Team members also have specialist expertise in and direct experience of Section 36, operational consents and environmental regulation within the nuclear industry and are members of the firm's Energy Group and Nuclear Team.
